Two-storied footpath
Capital sidewalks are not pedestrians. The hawkers' violence, the temporary minor installations and passports etc. have made the pavements ineffective. So, the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has taken initiative to construct two-footed footpaths (Elevated Walkway). In the first phase, this pavement road will be constructed in Gulistan area. In the meantime tender has been called for inadequate activities including the possibility of two storied footpaths, designs, constructions. Three organizations participated in the tender. Currently reviewing and evaluating them But city planners are skeptical about the effectiveness of the plan. According to them, instead of acquiring footpaths, this initiative is not realistic in any way. There is no guarantee that hawkers will not be able to take the two-lane road. Because there are violence in the foot overbridge too. '
The official of the two-storied sidewalk tender, who has participated in the Tariff of the Engineering Engineer (TED) of the Traffic Engineering Department (TED), has refused to say anything at this time. However, he said that an organization will be selected within a month after participants' previous work experience and their plans.
There will be escalator (moving stairs) for pedestrians to step on the footpath in the double-storey. These will be in different road junctions, so that pedestrians can flip through the two-footed footpath with convenient space.
Second stage:
In the first phase, the construction of the two-stage sidewalk in Gulistan will be increased around the extent of its benefits. In that case, it will be extended to Paltan, Dainik Bangla Corridor, Motijheel, Purana Paltan, Kakrail and South Sadarghat.
On December 4, a commercial advertisement of the DSC given by the national daily shows that, in the first phase, the 330-meter length double sidewalk will start from the point of Golap Shah Mazar point. From there, it will extend to the Sergent Ahad Police Box beside the Gulistan Cinema Hall beside the Kaptan Bazar adjacent to Nawabpur Road. Somewhere along the road, this pavement will be built on the road breaker somewhere.
TED project director Abu Saleh Md. Meinuddin said, the direction of the situation of the city will be created and its direction will be created. Initially its width is 8 feet. Its height will be adjusted with the flyover. Because of the Mouchak-Keraniganj elevated expressway through Golapshah Mazar area, it will be built on the existing sidewalk at that point.
In this context, the mayor of the DSCC, Sayed Khokon said, "The operation of Gulistan area has been carried out many times to free the occupation." But after a few days of eviction, they are re-occupying. In this case, elevated walkway can be an option. "He said," It is not possible to make the movement of pedestrians in Gulistan area with the existing footpaths. When the elevated walkway and the below footpaths are lifted, pedestrians can freely move. You can say, this is a pilot project. '

How to Start the Plan:
A few days ago, the Director of DSCC Mayor Saeed Khokan and Director of Clean Air Sustainable Environment (Keyes) Shehab Ullah found this kind of double road in the United States. Then the mayor suggested thinking about this matter. After this, Sehab Ullah inquired and studied it. In this context, he said, "There are such elevated walkways in the busiest cities of several countries including New York, Bangkok, and Thailand. It's a bigger version of Foot Overbridge or a much smaller flyover. So that at least four people can walk along. '
Construction Expenses:
DSCC engineers said that the cost of making a 60-foot-wide one-foot overbridge would cost between 15 crores and 15 crores. Besides, the cost of constructing flyovers per kilometer is Tk 80-90 crore. The proportion of the cost of the two-stage sidewalks will be much lower than both. There may be cement or plastic colored shelves on top to prevent passersby from sunshine. The steel belt (railing) will be on both sides. Because the pedestrians feel relieved to move, the forest is planned for the railing.
